Just wanted to share a tip I discovered, apologies if this has already been mentioned. It seems JBAU will apply the International Tax Deduction to orders shipped to NZ if you contact them through chat. Aquaman and Wonka steelbooks dropped to around $43 NZD when ordering from JBAU instead of JBNZ after getting the ITD applied.

Definitely worth checking out if you're planning any orders from JBAU!

Do you submit your order first and quote the order number to the chat?

Or have them sitting in your cart ready to complete the order first and contact them?

I've brought quite a bit from them over the past 3 or 4 months.

JBNZ have been putting half my orders on back order of late so I have been cancelling and reordering them via JBAU

Thanks

UPDATED!

Paramount Pictures US are releasing what looks like a new 4K Ultra HD budget range of catalogue films in the US.  They are Walmart exclusives until May 21st, then they are available from Amazon for the princely sum of US$10.99 each. Unfortunately, they are not included in any free shipping offer, so shipping will double the price. Could we even hope for an Australian release?

The cases are the DVD (G1) type and they will include a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD (new set of placemats 😁) of the film as well as a DVD Digital Copy.

The first four releases are INTERSTELLAR (2014), CLOVERFIELD (2008), THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (1990) and ESCAPE FROM L.A. (1996).

Re: The above post.

It looks like Paramount have finally realized that charging top dollar for old titles isn't going to shift a lot of units. Let's hope that they sell like hot cakes and other studios will climb onboard and we will finally get value for our hard earned.

Searching has uncovered four more titles in the same format. they are: BEVERLEY HILLS COP (1984), A QUIET PLACE (2018), THE LOST CITY (2022) and SHUTTER ISLAND (2010).

EDIT: Apparently they have been around since October 2022 at Walmart, so people obviously aren't buying them. I can't understand why studios give certain stores exclusivity on some of their releases. Surely, they would sell more units if they were widely available. Even if you don't want the Blu-ray and DVD, you are getting the 4K for a great price. The DVD size cases will probably be putting ardent collector's off them.

Unconfirmed, but there is some talk on Reddit about the 4k transfers being inferior on these releases. My guess is they may be using lower capacity disks to keep the costs down a bit. Doesn't really make much sense to ship an inferior product if you want people to start buying 4k though.

Hey, I had to submit the order first, then contact them via chat with the order number. They refunded the GST back onto my card, which took about a day.

I have done some research on the quality of these releases. It appears that they are the same disc size for all eight titles as the Standard 4K releases. Seven of them are BD-66 the same as the Standard 4k releases and Interstellar is on a BD-100 also the same as the Standard release.

It appears that the talk on Reddit is incorrect.

Hope you're right and we get a release! The cover art is stunning. Considering the budget of the film was rumoured to be ~15 million dollars, winning an Oscar for visuals is a massive achievement.

Very tempted to grab some of these for the price, especially if the 4K discs are the same as the regular 4K versions

Really annoying though how utterly rubbish Amazon US have made their search function recently though.
