Does the E17NUS have a 10bit panel and true HDR 10? Information on JB website is a bit different to what the TCL website lists (if they are even the same model) JB has E17NUS and the AU TCL website lists E17US

https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisions/tcl/tcl-65-ultra-hd-4k-android-tv/338923/

https://tclelectronics.com.au/product/e17-65-inch-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-65e17us/

JB lists 4 HDMI ports, TCL lists 3

Dimensions are marginal (a few mills and grams in it) which may suggest different models and the TCL website says "HDR via USB only" wtf!?!

that 65" is dead sexy at that price point if they have a decent panel with HDR 10

Is this a special firmware ? Nothing on the it updates

Would be keen to see if it fixes the freeview EPG problem I'm having

Nothing special about it.

I'm currently running v169 and they send me v186.

But there's android 7 available for P/C series, and guy from support told me that 55E17NUS is the same as P series in AUS. So I might try to update to android 7 too

How do you find out what firmware you're running? I've looked at all the settings and it doesn't tell me (aside from running android 6.0). Certainly nothing resembling v169 or v186

Would be keen to give v186 a good

The tcl australia site model is the 2018 model at jb hifi which as far as I can see has Harman Kardon Tuned Sound speaker bar at bottom and hdr 10, don't know about panels. Also only 1 year warranty.

The model on special  is 2017 model and from what i can see doesn't have hdr 10 dont know about panels, no speaker bar but sound on 55 inch is good and also comes with 3 year warranty.

firmware v186.

Download the  file and copy  into an empty USB device on a fat 32 format

1. Turn off the TV (mains power – unplug it from the power point /socket)
2.  Insert USB stick with the correct software (if there’s a service port, make sure to plug it there)
3.  Press and hold the power button on the TV (not remote)
4. Turn on mains power to the TV (while keeping the power button pressed)
5.  After about ten seconds, you will see the upgrade notification on the TV, as soon as you see this, release the power button.

The TV will now update. Do not disconnect or press any buttons, until you see the google welcome page. The update is now done.

Everything is done on your own risk.

First problem - can't find the power button for the TV (or any other buttons for that matter)

Tried going through the system and doing a local update but it says it can't find any file.

Will play around with it a bit more.

Power button is on the back right side of the TV (at least, on my X2), and is done by holding down the navigation nub thingy.

Also, be aware that if you can wait, Android 7 has started coming out for the X2 and C2 TVs, I've emailed TCL to see if I can get the zip file so the above process can be followed, otherwise supposedly the update has been delivered by the update feature in the TVs too for some people, but is allegedly a staggered rollout.

I have updated the Android N on my TCL TV, I would like to say this is a MUST update.

It has a better performance when playing 4K videos.
