Mine arrived today, ordered it from DSE on 23rd November.

Set up was really straight forward, remote is perfectly fine, connected it to my AV Receiver and it all works fine.

Connected to my 5ghz Signal for a better stream, luckily the router is close by, streamed Mandolorian in HDR without problem.

Installed all the usual suspects apps, and they all set up fine.

Quite liked the option to set up apps that are on my other devices, as i have a Nvidia shield.

The content is sparce if set to NZ English, options to rent and buy in NZ$ but very little to choose from.

Will try other Language choices and see what happens.

Nord VPN set up ok.

Settings are minimal compared to the Shield but everything you need for sound and vision are there.

I have to say i like it, although bought it more out of curiosity as i have 2 x Nvidia Shields and they are incredible.

Havent side loaded any apps yet, like to try and get Spark Sport on their, and a few others, maybe somebody else could help with that.

Cheers

I use X-plore File Manager (from the play store) and add a web service (Dropbox). Put my apk's into dropbox and connect it up. You have to also allow "install from unknown sources" for the app.

This should help - https://thestreamable.com/news/how-to-sideload-apps-on-new-chromecast-with-google-tv.

Good luck!

Just set up mine. And the two apps that I least expected to work and be available (But secretly wished for) was available as standard apps!

Spark Sport and Sky Sports Now are both available in the Play Store so those alone made me happy and were the main reason I got an apple tv before. Now they are available to be used with a remote on Chromecast so I'm stoked. Sky sports is just missing live tv rewind which is available on the Apple TV

The Chromecast is not nearly as smooth as the Apple TV but they compete at different ends of the market and I never expected it to be the same experience but so far I'm happy. Obviously, the google tv recommendations are limited but that is expected in NZ but support may grow over time.

I just wish I can change the order of the recommendations.

Mine was dispatched the same day as yours from Dick Smith. But I copied my tracking number from Australia Post onto the NZ Post website and it has just said "Handover for arrival processing" since yesterday morning. Hopefully it is delivered soon.

Mine arrived today - 4 weeks to the day after I ordered it from DSE.

Took 1 week for DSE to dispatch it and another 2 1/2 weeks before it left Australia - so it looks like there are some big hold ups with courier items in Oz.

NZ post had it to me within one day of it clearing customs in NZ.

If anyone intends watching the cricket today with their new CC+GTV device, I would love to know if gets over-heated at all.

Or can at least last through all 3 sessions of a days play.

Thanks.

I'll be taking care of this very tough assignment for you today through spark sport. Will update with my progress.

It's been running on an awesome quality stream with spark sport since the first ball this morning with zero issues. Not once even a stutter. Just did a temperature check and it is still below 40C. Definitely running much cooler than my Chromecast ultra. I'm pretty impressed.

It survived a full day of streaming spark sport through their android tv app running on the chromecast without a single issue. And after all that I'll say it was still cooler than the chromecast ultra in idle screensaver mode all day.

Any comments on surround sound on the new Chromecast?

Particularly when straight passing content from Plex to a surround amp (mines a Sony 1080 so supports most of the current Dolby/DTS codecs).

Currently on a standard gen 2 Chromecast and surround works pretty well, don't want to take a step back in that regard.

Mine says "Despatch Parcels from Export Facility" on the Australian Post website, since Friday. What does it mean and how long does a parcel normally take to get to New Zealand from whatever city in Australia Dick Smith ships from?

I bought mine on 28/November, hoping there would be a Black Friday promotion.

You can track it on NZ Post for more details. The process should not take too long from your status but you never know in December. I'll say within two weeks. But track it on NZ Post

Two weeks? Geez I was thinking 2 or 3 days 😞

The NZ Post website says "No information available". It's like that with almost everything I buy, most of the time I get stuff delivered before I have the chance to see its status changing on the website.
