Yea - it does nothing in this part of the world. I believe its of use when changing between multiple providers (especially in europe where they see many hundreds of channels). It speeds up the selection process and allows for faster channel changes and decoding, especially where multiple cards/encryption standards are used.

In essence with either Foxtel or Sky NZ these are simply a single provider - channel change speeds aren't really an issue.

The only files you need in the plugins folders are the ACamd.dll, and the cardclient.conf.

Once you run it, it will generate its own Acamd.ini file, and also the chcache.ini file, once its connected to NewCS.

That's interesting about Acamd. So, basically I can get rid of all the extra lines, files, etc without it adversley affeting the operation. Not that it's actually operated, yet.

Yep - so all the cardclient.conf needs is something like the following, nothing else:

newcamd:192.168.1.xxx:15000:0/096A/ffff:username:password:0102030405060708091011121314

For your side of the ditch you'll need to change the 096A to 096x (I think its 0963 for Foxtel - don't quote me on that), and adjust the IP address accordingly ie localhost, or 127.0.0.1 etc etc.

However - like I said that will only work once NewCS has actually read/initialised your card- which based on the logs you provided it hasn't - and they look exactly like the card detection error a few of us have had in the past with NewCS 1.65.

If you get really stuck, one way to check the reader is to use DVBViewer and NDSCAM 0.0.0.7 - this works out of the box on nearly anything.

Where would I find the provider ID?

I've done a google search and nothing comes up

Once you get NewCS going, if you have a look in the web console (http://x.x.x.x:8080 is the default port), on the "Readers" tab, you will see it listed under CAID - which is the provider ID.

It will also list it in the pile of stuff it outputs once it correctly reads your card.

I think that you are there. If you leave Newcs runing like that then start a DVBViewer instance and tune to an encrypted channel the "user" will log in again.

[edit] 090B is the caid you will need to set in your acamd cardclient.conf line

That should probably do it. Using your caid my line would look like this

newcamd:localhost:15000:0/090B/ffff:user:password:0102030405060708091011121314

ie only the mask is changed but I think for our purpose either would work. (and no, don't ask me what the mask does!)

Got it working!

Now, I just need to tidy up the channel numbers and set up EPG. And back up the drive.

Must really thank, Rustygonad, Mattv, Argo and everyone else who shared their knowledge. If it's ok with everyone, I might put together a tutorial (i.e. idiots guide).

And to state the obvious - Now you just need to make sure you've got a good set of notes to refer back to and a HDD image if something "really bad" happens (which recently happened to me

).

Re: the guide - feel free to use anything I've submitted. Where relevant it would be best to spell out where you refer to an Oz setup, NZ or generic. Otherwise there could be some confusion

Hopefully I can put something together that will benefit as many people as possible. This took me over a year to sort out and the end result is brilliant. Even tha WAF has improved.

Phase two is putting in a dual LNB and a second DVB-S tuner.
