Any updates on this with dvb-s cards?

From my understanding, there's no way to get DVR working with dvb-s cards, unless you use a third party channel plugin? I've tried MP/NextPVR and I find them unreliable, I'm currently using Tvheadend and it's literally never crashed on me yet, it's amazing! I've tried using Emby with the Tvheadend addon and it is fantastic, again, never crashed on me with any device.

The problem I'm having is my Samsung TV. Emby doesn't support a Samsung TV and the channel plugin for Plex (LiveTVH) to connect to Tvheadend doesn't work, it keeps crashing. The plugin works fine on any other device.

So is there no way to get any live tv from a dish running on a Samsung TV? (Apart from an external box)

In the mean time you could run TVHProxy, which takes your TVheadend and serves it to plex as if it was a HDHomerun device.

It works good for streaming but, it is hit and miss for recording.

Have you worked through getting nextpvr mp more reliable? Ie through their native interfaces?

I have and I've basically given up. It's just so annoying sifting throw logs wondering why at 2:46am the recording service stopped. Besides, I want as few software to manage and watch TV with. I need to be able to watch Live TV, TV shows/Movies online and NextPVR can't do that. Plus their interface looks aesthetically bad. Imo a better option is TVH/Plex or TVH/Emby for when I'm not home and TVH/Kodi-Plex or TVH/Kodi-Emby for original quality when I'm home.

Nice! I'll look into it. I guess this is an excuse to finally get a plexpass then :)

Plex DVR doesn't support Samsung TVs :(. I really didn't want to get something external to the TV for DVB-S support, but I guess I will have to.

So the latest Plex Pass update has enabled DVR for "community devices" which includes basically anything that should run but Plex haven't been able to test/verify. My T2 card appeared and I managed to set it up but no XML data is available so I suppose I will have to try the XMLTV-type route? Is this even still running?

its better to use xmltv because plex has a pretty annoying issue where channels will temporarily disappear if the gracenote epg has no episode data for something thats currently

Managed to load in Matt's XML file and all channels are working well. Getting full HD from the card. I just use PMP on my main TV presently and I can't really see a way to "flick" channels from the HUD instead I need to exit the current program and start another from another channel. Kinda annoying but getting there slowly, I suppose.
