Looking for a stopgap 55 - 58" TV around $1500 but preferably under - any suggestions?
Currently thinking that the TCL C745 and C845 looks like the best options as OLEDS look to be at least 2.5k+
Here’s an older/lower range LG OLED (but 65”) at a seemingly decent price of $1699 including shipping - https://talkischeap.co.nz/products/lg-a2-65-inch-4k-smart-oled-tv-new
Saw it on Cheapies, where there’s talk about this site selling used models which may have already had a good amount of use, but this item’s listed as ‘new’.
Personally, I’d go for this kind of deal over a similarly priced but newer LCD TV.

The brother in law purchased one just before xmas. I set it up at his place and was pretty impressed for the price. Quite a zippy UI and 4K HDR Material looked awesome on it. I use an LG C series OLED...plus a Sony A80J OLED and this "cheap" OLED was still quite impressive. I think its limited to 60Hz via HDMI so PS5 Gamers etc should look elsewhere. But for free to air TV and 4K stuff, its great.
Sony 77" A80J OLED, Integra 60.7, Panasonic UB820, Toshiba HD-XE1, Apple TV 4K, JBL L100T,JBL 18Ti, JBL L20T, Velodyne HGS15

Looks mighty tempting at that price, especially as somebody who doesn't really use the TV for gaming but mainly Netflix/Movies. The only question is if its completely new as this website tends to sell 2nd hand/refurbished goods. Best case its box damage - same question about warranty.

Its definitely Brand new in the Box. Warranty says 1 year parts and labour.

Even I'm tempted by that, but I know I'd never get it past the financial controller i.e. replacing something that works just fine already.

Now only $1299. No brainer at that price, bought today.
One of our "living" rooms has a Sony LCD 55" going on 10 years old, its still functional but as its our main evening living area we are looking to step up to an OLED of sorts, plus moving to 65" (its a semi divider wall so this is about as big as will fit on it). although we did consider the Sony 55" a80L as its currently very affordable at ~$2500. It got great reviews last year. But then you can get that older LG C2 55" for $1700 (or much less prior as seen abov).
Currently the S90C QD-OLED Samsung 65" is on sale for $3k vs $3500rrp. This is what Im considering vs waiting for some kind of seasonal or holiday type deal.
It seems for $500 the extra 10" and a newer design OLED with the S90C is worth it?
Id say 90% streaming media and 10% Sports gaming would be the use case.
Is the S90C panel acceptable speed for an XB Series X?
Buy now or wait for a seasonal/holiday type deal?
Ugggh I forgot to add, is Dolby Vision a deal breaker for mostly Netflix, or is HDR10+ good enough for most people? (ie not the videophile types, casual users). Im not sure how extreme the difference between DV vs HDR10 is, or is it more an issue of HDR10 is less commonly used than DV?
Ive always found If the sale states 25-30% off xxx - thats normally the best the best price. Case and point I purchaded TV at easter 30% off was stated, tv was $3800. A week later it was a final cleareance sale same tv was $4500. Pricespy and priceme are your friends here. I went with a DV suported TV as it is the most commonly supported version. Could I tell the difference between the 2 prob not. But all my other devices supported DV so it was pointless having the viewing device not supported.
also - most of the models from last year will be at close to their lowest price as they will want to move the stock on. I try and purchase the top teir models from the previous year.
Thanks guys.
The samsung is meant to be the best mix of technology's but no DV makes me wonder if I will regret it. But $3k is the budget and it fits it currently.
