James Bond:

You also get the $10 per month HD ticket waived if you want to keep your existing old MySky box and pay for multi-room.

What if you want to do that but already have multi-room? (MySky plus a STB) Would the $49 still apply for me? and will the rental be the same?

And yea, you'll have to pay the $49 upgrade for the new box. It's just the $10 monthly HD content fee that will get waived each month with multiroom.

Yup...

I already have two MySky boxes so they are taking one away. Means I don't have to pay the extra $10 for HD content.

I booked to upgrade to MySky 1 from Digital this Friday, then I am booked to go to MySky HD also on July 29th. The CSR said they'd booked 800 upgrades already.

They didn't, but the first four months is free for mySky 1, so the CSR explained it would be the cheapest deal. He also suggest I might want some time to learn the system before HD was ready, but I said I was an engineer... :-)

I have booked mine as well, and same story not until the 29th.

I have two myskys and one legacy digital decoder. When they finish I will have two myskyhds and one-mysky for $98, ie I pay for two upgrades and they replace the legacy digital with one of the existing mysky's for free, pretty pleased about the last part.

This gives you most of the info you need to know:
http://blogs.pcworld.co.nz/pcworld/products/2008/06/sky_launches_hd_with_sport_and.html

Most importantly $599 upgrade fee from current normal sky box
but also if you keep the old box its free for 4 Months (good deal i think)
Also confirming the 1080i resolution for everything
Seems i was right about the June 11th announcement, not very often they stick to these dates.

I'm been holding off for a new HDTV because of DVB-T panels coming out soon. Can Sky peform the upgrade even if the TV where the HD box goes to is STV? I want to ring fairly soon as I don't want to miss out in case its a limited time offer.

The  new boxes are fully capable of outputting SD aswell (this is because they will able to be bought without purchasing the HD channels) so basically it will just work as the mySky.

Yeah go for it now. Just make sure they leave you an HDMI cable for when you eventually get that HD TV. Those things can be expensive.

I just rang and enquired and have been told that, to upgrade from the original SD sky digital to Mysky2 you will need to pay $600 for the Mysky box then a one off $50 fee to upgrade that to Mysky2. Then it is $15 monthly fee for the box plus $10 for the HD content.

So $650 from SD -> HD plus a extra $25 per month.
