I don't know how the rest of you have received your Amazon US SteelBook orders lately, but I ordered The Mask Of Zorro Steel from them a couple of weeks ago, along with The Magnificent Seven (2016) standard edition. I was a little apprehensive 'cos i have previously received SteelBook orders from them in padded bags. They both arrived today. The Magnificent Seven was delivered in a padded bag and shipped separately was The Mask of Zorro (it's a really nice glossy Steelie) in it's own solid cardboard box with internal packing... woo hoo!. Have they finally got the message? or is this just a one off?

I can't say the same for Aramex, who again left the parcels in my letter box. Every other courier service brings it to my door. The NZ Post guy always knocks and waits for me to answer the door, even if it's a none signature parcel. Am I expecting too much? πŸ€”

Thanks very much for your input!

This is what I’ve read - that it’s ultimately down to personal preference on likability. I may have to just buy it and decide for myself.

Thanks again πŸ‘

Glad I could help!

I'd been meaning to comment on the improvement of packing too. Last week I received two orders, one packed tightly in a box with the large plastic bubble padding, and the other (a steelbook) generously wrapped in bubble wrap with folded cardboard on top and beneath.

I also ordered the Mask Of Zorro after you posted about it, and it should arrive in the next few days. I get my deliveries sent to my work, but unfortunately the sometimes get delivered after I leave work (as happened with another order delivered today).

My copy of Dune Pt2 came in a cardboard box with that brown paper filler stuff. I saw the Aramex van coming and headed him off before he could jam anything in the letterbox.

My steelbook copy (ordered 4/2024) of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off arrived from Amazon inside a fairly weak cardboard box and with no padding inside. JB AU and Ezydvd use stronger boxes in my experience.

If the box was dropped I believe the steelbook would have been dented. So, got some luck there.

I tend to avoid Amazon due to their packaging, but based on members reports here, perhaps the “tide is turning”?

Cheers!

Welcome to the Weekly 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & SteelBook Release Schedule for Thursday May 30th.

Bob Marley and Madame Web are new releases this week in New Zealand and if you are quick, you can grab them both in the JBNZ 20% off sale until June 5th. It's nice to see that JBNZ are continuing to import some quality 4K titles from Disney, with The Mandalorian complete seasons one and two available. If you want them, get in now, as there is limited stock. Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Wanda Vision have all sold out at the Pre-order stage. There is some doubt that The Crow standard edition will be released on July 3rd as previously advised. It seems likely to be getting pushed back until September. The SteelBook edition however, is still set for the July 3rd date. Until I get confirmation, I'll leave things as they are for now. To make things a little easier on myself, I have decided to leave out the DVD Land pricing from this week on. I will post anything that they have an early listing for as coming soon, until JBAU or EzyDVD announce it. There is quite a lot of new release news and release dates to enter this week; so I'll get on to it πŸ˜„

Few titles have received Blu-ray releases, so I'd say it's highly doubtful. For technical reasons (source material usually being tape), most shows wouldn't benefit from anything better than a Blu-ray release.

I'm not a huge fan of Friends, but I do have it on Blu-ray. There is a lot of soft focus and the occasional scene that looks like it may have been taken from SD sources. I don't think UHD would be much of an upgrade.

I'm hopeful :) Friends was shot in 35mm, not tape. I hope Twin Peaks in 4k releases one day too.

"I'd like to see all the shows (episodes) remastered in 4K for the future. I remastered 12 of the episodes for movie theaters two years ago and got to see the original negatives and do color correction on them. It's night and day, even from HD. That's what I'd like to get over the fence next."

Zavvi said they dispatched Obi-wan to me from I think the UK. So here's hoping...

Godzilla (2014)
In this gritty, realistic sci-fi action epic, Godzilla returns to its roots as one of the world's most recognized monsters. Directed by Gareth Edwards and featuring an all-star international cast, this spectacular adventure pits Godzilla against malevolent creatures that, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Kong: Skull Island (2017)
When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly star in a thrilling and original new adventure that reveals the untold story of how Kong became King.

Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019)
An epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla vs Kong (2021)
Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
The epic battle continues! The cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of “Godzilla vs. Kong” with an all‐new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
