Yea thats what I thought. On investigation though it seems it was only the Web based services via a browser that did not work with unblock-us.com.

My PS3 and Roku would seem to work fine. It would connect and start playing. But would buffer quiet considerably. And sometimes stop all together.

Yeah, I had heard that too but I seem to be able to connect to Netflix and other US services through Unblock-Us even while on my laptop. I think the problem with TCL is their crappy international speeds. Speedtests to California servers usually max out at around 5 or 6 Mbps, even though I'm on a 100Mbps service. I found VPN services to be even worse that the DNS services. Others in this thread have mentioned Unotelly - I might try that but I'm not hopeful. Feels like a step backwards switching from a 100Mbps cable service to ADSL2 so I'm keen to stick with cable if I can. Hopefully Vodafone can improve things now?

That is true. The transparent proxy does not seem to affect these devices.

But. TCL's poor international bandwidth does seem to cause buffering problems, hence my move back to Snap ADSL.

If you with TCL its going to be crap. Believe me, I tried everything to get it to work in Sep last year. I even posted about it back then.

I was on the TCL 100Mbps plan and was never able to reach speeds like this:

I did a test to Vudu last night and got about 3500Kbps.

As a side note - I tried signing up to Vudu last night but I couldn't get it to accept my credit card. I tried my NZ Westpac card and my OneSmart card. It looks like it tries to validate the billing address of the card and fails each time. Anyone got any tips on getting this working?

They may have changed something in the system then. I tried setting up my OneSmart card with my YouShop address and that didn't work. Do you guys have your OneSmart card set to a different billing address in the OneSmart system?

WOW thats impressive.

Are you running the Astril SW on a DD-WRT router? I was never able to get decent speeds out of Astril on my router unless I ran the Astril software directly on my PC (useless for other devices like the PS3, roku etc ...).

I suppose the best option would be to setup a dedicated Astil VPN PC as a router.

I think it was noted in another thread that Vudu has CDN servers in Sydney which is why you get good performance from them.

That being said even on Telecom's ADSL2+ I can watch HDX 1080p with no problem but nobody else in the house can do much :-)

That's of the the key advantage of a faster connection - multiple users in the house maintaining their speeds.

That one was from a PC with Astril openvpn to LA so it wont be using the Sydney CDN.

On my router (Lynksys 4200) I have tomato (dd-wrt) with the Astril VPN plugin installed using RouterPro VPN.
