Welcome to the Weekly 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & SteelBook Release Schedule for Thursday June 13th.

It's really getting busy on the new release front. Surprise announcements for Dredd (2012) and American Psycho (2000) from Via Vision, to add to all of the re-issued titles from last week is making the schedule rather long. News that Drive (2011) is getting a SteelBook release plus rumours of other titles on their way, makes for a bright 4K future, at least in the short term. The Chucky Collection has been pushed back to June 19th and Mighty Ape have removed the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire SteelBook from their website. The Rocky: 6-Film Collection has a new date of July 31st in Oz. Furiosa (2024) gets an August 21st release.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Godzilla/Kong Monsterverse release on June 26th so we should get those in the sale. That is, as long as they don't mysteriously get pushed back a week 😁

I'm always curious about the appeal of steelbooks, particularly here in the regions. I counted about 6-7 steelbooks of Dune 2 at the Palmy JB-Hi-fi in Wednesday. When I was back with my son today, there was 1-2 left. Of course, I don't know what they might keep out back, but they def sold a few and not bad price, at only a few bucks higher than standard edition. I bought the 2-movie pack as I didn't have the first Dune movie, but it's funny...when you pick up a shiny steelbook it's VERY tempting. I was almost swayed.
