Psilan:

My Shields have been going well. I just used a travel adaptor to sort out the pro.

The pro or the tube isn't as snappy around the menus as my TV, but obviously the playback destroys it. I don't play anything high bitrate on the tube.

the shield pro menus are slower than your tv? in the plex app too? what model tv is it? that is pretty suprising

Sony KD-75X9000H. The Android TV menus etc are extremely responsive.

Can these be remotely mounted i.e. in a comms/media cupboard?

Yup, the remote is bluetooth, or wifi direct on the 2015, so no LOS needed.
