nudge: Thanks Nety. Yes, the 8400gt is tiny compared to the 8800gts, and the box has been cooler since taking the monster out.
I'm loving win7, seems really stable and having HD is finally a reality.
Incidently, I was pulling the EPG for Prime from sky on 12707 an copying it to the SD channel. Recently, it has not been returning any data. I have done a rescan of 12707 and it lists THREE prime channels, will anyone do for the EPG
Thanks,
Nudge
pcrosley: I'm getting the final parts for my HTPC next week. Is it worth my while to go with a straight install of W7?I guess it depends on what you're planning to do, but I would say yes, if you're willing to accept the fact it's a beta. If you're planning on using WMC, or are that way inclined, then I would go Win 7.
My other option is XP Professional.
Thanks!
nudge: !!! OMG !!!
I just started getting warning about running out of space on c:
I am running a 40gb solid state drive as OS. Overkill I know, but it keeps it really quiet and boots up quick.
Anyway, I DL a folder analysis program as I couldn't see where the space was being used - even with everything unhidden is only added up to about 15gb.
The analysis program found this path... C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue
It had 27gb of the multiple occurances of the same file (I've just deleted them all) but from memory the file was called:
AppCrash_mcg....exe dating back to when Win7 was installed and about 10 occurances a day.
What's this about and whats it doing soaking up my HDD. What's crashing?
OK I accept it is beta and that it may keep crashlogs etc, can I schedule to delete the files somewhere, or can I tell Win to put the files on another drive.
I guess I could write a script or something to periodically delete them
That problem resolved, I am off to get the new video card

freitasm:
I would suggest you create a new discussion for this kind of problem since this is certainly not related to the topic at hand...
nzskater: Just installed and up until the MC part of things everything went well. I have been unable to get any DVB-S Freeview channels to generate a picture.
Am running an HVR4000. Have installed the Hauppauge 4.6b drivers only package and have got as far as scanning for channels and found everything Freeview on Optus D1 (I think, 20 inc radio).
When I access Live TV I get no signal, and have no guide data. As far as the setup went, I used what I assume are defaults when going through the Media Centre wizard and accepted most if not all prompts etc. As I said, scanning for channels got me results, but I can't figure out why they aren't displaying an image. Anyone got any tips for setting it up initially?
Would also be keen to know how to strip out all found channels and start again; ended up with 70+ Sky channels in there from the first scan...

nzskater: Cheers, had got that far; have got all the Freeview channels listed, and have all the other channels disabled. My issue is that although the channels have been found, and are now the only ones enabled, I have no guide data and I can't actually watch them.
Selecting any channel results in a blank screen and a 'No TV Signal' error. Re-scanning does not find anything as they're all listed already. When scanning with the correct settings the Signal Quality is full, but I have to use an SR of 22500 for both, 25000 does not pick up anything.

I'm no expert, but thought I would try to help out a fellow skater ;-)
Firstly, are you definately running build 7000 (some of the earlier builds had the problem of black screens and you had to turn of some settings for the MEPG5 thinging me bob - yes I know I've got that wrong). But it seems like a similar problem, check it is build 7000 as the blank screen thing was resolved.
Also check your video driver, are you getting sound?
nzskater: One thing to note though; when I set it up it never populates the 'Signal Strength' for the Sat/LNB settings, but I get full strength when I manually enter the frequencies when doing the actual channel scan.
