For a new build, another option in the 4XXX family are the HD4200 based boards with 785G chipset. These give some 4XXX features. However, HD4200 is missing the 7.1 LPCM over HDMI from the discrete 4XXX cards, and at a "performance" level similar to the HD3200.

I was considering waiting for this chipset, but the whole fiasco with 7.1 LPCM has put me off. Not much point upgrading from the 780g I don't think, especially when a standalone card gives such a performance increase. The new nvidia cards coming with 7.1 LPCM might be worth a looksee too. Not sure when they're due though.
