Hey guys,

I have a samsung 50 plasma (50pC450 i think) and it has no headphone output. I'm hoping you can help me -

I want to be able to use my headphones (Audio Technica M50) when using the TV (if that is the PC, Xbox, Apple TV or Sky)....

There is only RCA outputs on the TV - what unit would I use to capture this audio and then plug my headphones into? As a cheap solution?

I do have a plan to get a good HDMI amp and speakers but not for about 6 months so what's my best solution right now.

Any kind of amplifier will do

I have a headphone amplifier but it's a semi expensive one, cost me a few hundred dollars.

Try an RCA to 3.5mm plug

$6.99 :)

I thought about just using the output directly, but I figured line level would be too low. It's worth a shot though, since that cable will be needed with an amplifier anyway.

A very slight variation on the above suggestion.  If you already have spare sets of RCA leads hanging around you can get a converter socket from Jaycar for $3.50 to try out first.

Hey guys,

thanks for the responses, I think the headphone amplifier is the best option - I can't use simply a cable as there is no variable audio controller. I will need a headphone amp that I can control the volume with and then it will work.....

Wonder if a cheap old amp or dac might be a solution?

Yeah could use an old stereo amp, that would be a solution

I'd attempt to try the audio out, since I know from home use that my 6 series LED has variable control on the analogue RCA outs!

But I think the C450 is from at least 2010?  So probably has fixed analogue out
