I have a Samsung HT-TX500, which is one of those home theatre in a box systems, not the best I know but does the job. Lately I've had trouble turning on the amp. When you press the power button, the power light goes out for a second (as per normal) but then comes on again and the amp stays in standby.

This has happened for a while, usually I just keep pressing the button over and over, and eventually it wakes up. It seems to be getting worse, as in I have to press it more times before it powers on.

I've done a google search, links below, it seems a few people had the same problem. I've tried unplugging it, overnight in same cases but doesn't seem to make a difference.

If it is a blown capacitor on the power supply like the links suggest, how much would somewhere charge to do this? Any recommendations in for a place in Auckland to do this? I've used Next electronics in the past, seems overpriced for what they did.

Could try the Samsung customer service 0800 and see where you're directed - Next Electronics no longer exist (not missed), AFAIK Samsung have a dedicated service provider in Auckland region - Albany I think, don't quote me.
Please post how you get on, electronics service is pretty variable from my experience, if you find someone that knows what they are doing and doesn't charge silly money, do share

Under warranty? Take it back.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
