Hi everyone at Geekzone,

I just have a question to check if this is normal or there is something I need to do to fix it.

I used to run Freeview Sat standard definition and worked great skiping back and forward was not an issue however now running Freeview HD through UHF aerial TV works awesome and records and plays live tv simultaneously flawless however I have notice two things since the change to UHF from Sat.
1. take a bit longer to change channels now with UHF.

2. when im watching tv and i want to skip back it lags a bit enough to be annoying.

Im running two Hauppauge tuners
Fast Core 2 Duo cpu
Nvidia 9600GSO GPU with 768mb Ram plus 96 Stream Processors.
3GB of ddr800 ram
680Watts Thermaltake PSU SLI capable
2 Sata HD
Creative 24/96 HD sound card.

I Reckon this PC should be able to handle this stuff but I wonder if anyone here have the same issue.

The video is a bit old. It only supports PureVideo 2 (it is up to 5 now) so is still doing quite a lot of the video processing on the CPU. Is this machine dedicated HTPC or dual purpose? If dedicated HTPC I would suggest getting a new low end Nvidia card. Cannot be sure if that is your issue but nothing else jumps out at me. If dual purpose get a mid end card.

Different tuner cards have different tuner/demodulator chips and often different drivers. This can result in different "zapping" speeds. The effect could be +- a few seconds. Even if you're using a different tuner on the same card, the zap speed is not guaranteed to be the same.

As Nety has hinted at and you have stated your hardware, while capable, is far from the latest and greatest. HDTV does of course have a higher bitrate so changing channel is going to take more system resources and will be affected by everything from hard drive access speeds, ram speeds, CPU and GPU. Upgrading the GPU would certainly help. Another thing to look at is where is the live TV buffer. If its on the same drive as the OS are you able to move it to a different one. I imagine that in the not too distant future you may be wanting to look at a full system upgrade.
