Upgrading my HTPC for some gaming, what do you suggest Asus M5A97 Evo and AMD FX-Series FX-8120 $367 or Asus P8B75-M and Intel Core i5 3450 $387 to pair with my Sapphire HD5830 Xtreme 1GB GDDR5, 120 GB SSD and 8GB RAM playing on 40 inch TV.

I was originally thinking FX-4100 which was $60 cheaper than the i5 3450 but $40 more for an 8 core FX-8120 sounded good, but only made a $20 difference between AMD and Intel .

or should I just buy the 4100? PLEASE HELP

I bought an AMD A8 CPU and Matching Gigabyte A75 FM1 motherboard (with HDMI) - there's an intel equivalent I think.

Plays Freeview HD with no problems (and plays HD h.264 videos as well).

Get the Intel combo, for gaming its far better than the AMD combo. No question about it.

Yep that’s what I expected, I brought the P8B75-M.  8 unlocked cores did sound good.
