I am just about to buy a Logitech Harmony Remote 880 to finally get rid of all my remotes. I have a Sony Bravia connected to my DVD via HDMI and MySky. What I am wondering after testing the remote on Logitechs website is how you programme the HDMI connection between my Panasonic DVD Recorder adn the Bravia as this doesn't seem to be an option? Also as it doesn';t list MySKy as a PVR I presume you programme it as the brand which is Pace? But how do you find out the exact model. Has anybody done this before and can advise me please?

My experience so far has been that no universal remote comes pre-programmed with a control set for any of SKY's decoders. This means you have to learn the commands from your SKY remote.

I have been told that new Logitech remotes are able to download code sets from the wen: I don't know if this applies to the 880. The scenario that was put to me was:

Sky TV bring out a new decoder obviously that would require new codes. The first person to use this new product of yours with the Harmony remote would have "learn" or transfer their codes from their SKY product to our Harmony remote. These codes however are then uploaded to our international data base and stored, then anyone else who uses a Harmony remote with that specific device any where in the world does not need to get the codes of worry about their Harmony not being able to control the device as these codes will be downloaded from our data base.

That is probably correct. But you can never tell since the Sky boxes are probably used elsewhere in the world and the Harmony database is pretty extensive. I use the 880 and plugged in the brand name for my TCL cable box and it found something suitable that controls most options. And of course, if the device isn't in the Harmony database, you can programme the Harmony from your existing remote.

The Sony Bravias are bound to be in the database. I don't know much about them but if you have to scroll through inputs to choose the one you want using the Sony remote (scroll AV1 AV2 HDMI etc.) you might find the Harmony database has discrete codes for the TV so one command will choose the right input. If not then there's more work to do but Harmony tech support is excellent. Toll free calling to the US and they can look at your remote configuration from where they are and make changes to it if needed.

my Bravia is definitely in their database but it doesn't have HDMI component listed only Video 1-7. thanks for the advice on the MySky will just have to play around a bit was quite blown away when I selected sky and saw the amount of different types they offered!

Might be better to look at the back of the box and enter the manufacturer's name since Sky is a broadcast service, not the brand of the box.

A friend tried out one of the new Logitech remotes (sorry - not sure which one) with his MySKY etc last night. He entered the MySKY model number, TDS460NNZ, from the sticker under the box and was able to download a control set with no problems.

The Phillips universal remotes work with Sky no problem there is however like 5 listings for Sky
Theres Sky+, Sky, SkyTV, Sky TV and Sky France

Just have to get the right one
Plus the Logitech is a learning remote so it dosen't matter

Try Sky+, the MySky is essentially the same Pace TDS460 as the SkyUK Sky+, and Foxtel IQ.
