Replaced 2 Hauppauge Nova S+ tuners which were mostly reliable, very occasionally missed recording due to "tuner was not present at time of recording" so MC7 history stated. [MC7 usually couldn't find second tuner card, ounce pointed did see it ok.]
Upgraded to TBS6984 quad tuner, card ran reliably for first month then started missing scheduled recordings, during which time I reinstalled graphics/sound card HDMI drivers, reset up tuner rescanned satellite [scan quality only ever achieved 70% in MC], all gave only temporary fixes. Found MC required reboot to enable tuners to be available again but soon after became unavailable again during playback session with scheduled recording in back ground, or S3 wake to record failed due to "tuner was not present at time of recording". Windows device manager indicated TSB6984 present and working properly.
Last ditch effort, reinstalled W7 64bit SP1 OS, TSB6984 failed as above soon after install "Service unavailable [WMC] Removed TSB6984 card, reinstalled Hauppauge tuners, no issues since.
Basic system been in service since my last reg hack worked back in freeview sat initial test pattern days.
in the end its maybe just hardware failure, although hoping not as purchased tuner from 'Buy DVB online' in USA. July last.
Thanks in advance for any assistance offered to help fix this problem.

Are you saying the problem is related to the computer going into sleep mode?

I ask because I've just purchased the same quad tuner card with the intention of replacing our 2 Nova-S-Plus cards. If it's directly related to sleep mode, then I'd happily keep the computer on at all times to bypass the issue.

Let me know?

In your Device Manager, have you tried going into the properties of the tuner and, in the Power Management tab, deselecting the default option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"?

Hi rvangelder to retrace pattern of misbehavior since first installed about 10 weeks ago difficult, but fault has gradually got worse, first 4 weeks no issues then fault initially spasmodically occurred, missed recordings in my absence after having woken from s3 sleep, dont remember if I had to reboot to enable full tuner function at that stage, however as weeks went by missed recordings events became more regular till in the last week, tuner or MC failed directly after S3 wake, also during periods while PC in normal use playback internet etc requiring 2-3 reboots a night to maintain scheduled recordings, effectively no longer usable as intended.

Hi Dratsab During period of tuner not being available for MC [MC or tuner failure] I did check if TSB6984 was present in device manager list, it appeared as normal, in its properties showed 'this device is operating normally' there was no outstanding malfunction and no tab for 'power management' as I remember, and there isn't this tab for the Hauppauge cards either which I am currently running.
