for gaming theres nzgameshop.com which is really cheap. but does anyone know of a blu-ray store that is really cheap?

was looking at buying the dark knight rises, but pretty expensive just for a movie IMO. i havent bought bluray in a long time, mostly watch off vudu/netflix etc, but some movies i would want to own and put on computer legally. so any recommendations?

They are the same zone as us and shipping is quickish (1 week?). From time to time they do free shipping deals to NZ etc.

agree with this and a lot cheaper then most nz sites, only other place in nz we get blu-rays from is http://www.mightyape.co.nz/ when their specials come down to amazon prices

amazon.co.uk The Dark Knight Rises will cost you about $32 to land in nz - with 4 - 8 day shipping and it region free version so you can play in any blu-ray player around the world.

Small point of order, that format shifting of video is not legal - only music in NZ.

But yes Amazon/Mighty Ape are you best choices.

If you're wanting a justification for it...yeah.

I guess there's "things I may be fined for" and "things that are not 100% legal but I'm unlikely to ever be charged for".

Arent these DRM'd? So mostly windows only? (I've never bought a bluray with a digital copy)

If you have a JB Hifi nearby, they may also be worth checking out. They often have cheap BluRays on offer, especially for older titles.

davidcole: We've bought titles with digital copies before. They've worked on our iMac with no issues. The DRM was tied into iTunes, which depending on your thoughts may be a whole another minus right there :-)

yeah the digital copy are pretty much worthless and a waste of time.

i personally want a 1080P file on my network i can watch from any computer. i really dont mind paying legally for the movie, as far as im concerned, if i buy the bluray and put on my network for personal use (home network mind you not an office or anything), its fine.

sure it may not be legal exactly, but i dont think anyone would prosecute me for dong this.

so back to the original topic, any really good online stores? was hoping for free shipping like nzgameshop.com (who sell blurays, just not really cheap).

Of course, it's trivial to remove the DRM from iTunes content, but then you're right back where you started :)

Yeah digital copies often work in multiple platforms. Like I put one on my ipad via itunes, just loaded the disk in the computer and followed the steps. Could just have easily opted to put it into windows media player I expect. Definitely the best way to go about getting a legal copy on a media device such as a phone/tablet etc. Was a fairly large file, so a good quality encoded version.

Shop around it the guts of it, as you're after a special deal. There's no one place that's consistently cheaper; maybe for standard price but a special from somewhere else will almost always beat a standard price.

Unless they can be pointed to a physical optical drive somewhere on the network?

Bluray is 1080p with HD audio so I'm personally more interested in the physical media rather than a 30BG file copy of it.

wowhd.co.nz are pretty good. Based in Hong Kong with free shipping and prices in NZD. They have plenty of region B discs.
The Warehouse sometimes has 20% or 30% off all blu-ray too.

If you want really cheap be patient and hold off from buying a title as soon as it's released.

Wait 2-3 months and you can guarantee a substantial discount on Dark Knight Rises.

Again be patient and wait for one of the regular Warehouse/JB sales, usually saving 20-25%.

Online Amazon is the giant.

Savings to be made on pre-orders and a month or two later for new releases.

Amazon's after-sales service is second to none.
