Hi all,
I was just wondering, has there been any updates on this issue, that disables your decryption after a few months, mentioned on one of the pages late in this forum here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=84&topicid=21481&page_no=25, I am planning to make a xbmc live tv media portal server, setup for three xbmc devices (including itself) playing HD Tv and possibly 1-3 recordings if one of the TVs are active or even four if none of them are active. This is why I need to know if there is a fix for the problems others have had; has there been a product update, or even a new piece of software that it will allow To update itself, automatically and save me the trouble of trying to catch the update when it passes, in which I will most likely miss it, disabling my decryption every time, and then I would have to call sky and say that I had my skybox off the whole time. The tech I will be using are the TBS6985 PCIe DVB-S2 Quad Tuner Satellite TV Card- TV Tuner: http://www.buydvb.net/tbs6985-pcie-dvbs2-quad-tuner-satellite-tv-card-tv-tuner-for-window-linux_p84.html, paired with a TBS3102 card reader, found here: http://www.buydvb.net/tbs3102-5-crystal-phoenixsmartmouse-card-reader_p6.html. I was also wondering, is this endeavour entirely legal? I had a read over Sky's terms and conditions, it sounded like this was illegal, but I don't mind as long as I get my EMM updates and not get the service terminated then I should be fine right? I mean, Sky Tv already take enough money from us already don't they?
Anyway in sections of the terms and conditions located: https://skytv.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/536 there are certain details:

RIGHT TO SUSPEND, CANCEL OR ALTER SERVICE
We are entitled, at any time without prior notice or any liability to you, to:
cancel or suspend the whole or any part of the Selected Service and/or substitute in place of the Selected Service or any part of it alternative programming, products or services;
alter the packages of subscription television services offered by us (in which case you must select one of the new packages);
alter the mechanism by which we transmit the Signal and/or the format of that signal; and/or
change, add and remove features and functionality of the Decoder or any products or services provided to you.

And other things like...

CARE OF EQUIPMENT
We own the Equipment at all times and you must not:
remove the Equipment from the HOME without our prior written consent;
sell, lease, dispose of, lend or otherwise part with possession of, or modify in any way, the Equipment;
use the Equipment for any purpose other than viewing the Selected Service, or using any other programming, products or services selected in accordance with clause 5, inside the HOME in accordance with this contract;
deface, obliterate or remove any label or mark which identifies our ownership of the Equipment; or
do any other act which may adversely affect or prejudice our ownership of the Equipment.

This is yet another reason why I need EMM updates, so they think that I am just carrying away with using their sky box.
This information would help greatly to help cut cost of Multiroom prices and their expensive double priced channels, it will also give me a more feature rich experience, as I could play recorded TV to all three devices, you can't do that with mysky.
Thanks,
William

I can't comment on the legality side of things, but at present I am getting full entitlement updates using an Omnikey 3121, OSCam for Windows and MP TVserver/Argus.  In fact, box office also works as I watched two PPV movies over the xmas break, you just have to be decoding a channel for them to work.

So you don't have to put in your smart card every three months?
If you are using xbmc could you film it or. Something? I would really like to see sky tv work on computer.

No I don't have to.  The EMM's are updated automatically in OSCam when they're sent by Sky.  I use MediaPortal for my front end due to its better TV handling at present.

It would be difficult to record what OSCam is doing without giving away my card details as the front end (XBMC or MP) actually does nothing, it is the card server (OSCam in my case) and the TVEngine/Server (MP TVServer with Argus scheduler) and the updates are done in the background with my knowledge.  All I do to check is click on the attached reader in OSCam and check the entitlements and I see the expiry date increase every now and then... Currently I think they're extended until March now, but they shift generally monthly.

+1, OSCam on my DM7025 does the same.

(Currently showing March too, fwiw - 20 day blocks, every 6-8 weeks).
