Hey can anyone recommend me a <$1000 home theatre system?
Must be 5.1 and preferably ipod/bluetooth compatibity.
Currently looking at something like this Sony BDVN990W

How does that compare?

Not providing a recommendation but a piece of advice if you're insistent on buying Sony. Ensure the device actually does have what you want. The link you've provided doesn't mention Bluetooth so it's unlikely to be a feature. The STR-DN1030 (only slightly more than your $1k limit) is like this. It has Bluetooth built-in in most markets, but not New Zealand or Australia.
