Hi,

I'm after a cable similar to the one in this link http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/252280-REG/Hosa_Technology_YMM_261_Stereo_Mini_Male_to.html?KBID=2572

It takes a stereo 3.5mm input and separates the left and right channels to the 3.5mm female plugs at the other end.  Want to use this to connect a stereo source to two mono speakers.

Has anyone ever come across such a cable in NZ?  All I can seem to find are cables for one stereo connection in and two stereo connections out.

Was trying to avoid this.  I could buy a 3.5mm to two RCA, and then a couple of RCA to 3.5mm converters. But if a ready made cable was available already...

Try surplustronics. I got a few 3.5mm stereo to dual 6.35mm mono cables to hook my pcs up to my mixer from there. Otherwise jansens

Just buy it from the USA, I get all my sound gear from USA (or directly from China) for filming.

Use YouShop or similar if the place won't ship directly to NZ.
(I just today got four emails from YouShop saying my parcels have arrived in NZ, I use it a lot!)

In this case it will matter because he wants L and R split to each speaker. If the sockets are stereo he'll get the same signal to each speaker.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll just make myself one up from various parts already available in NZ.

dman - I don't want to pay $20 shipping on a $5 item that I could probably cobble together for $10 myself :)

They may not be as common in Y-cable form, but the adaptor plug format is very common.
Only problem there tends to be bulk/weight which can put strain on the 3.5mm socket.

It is not as expensive as you'd think, if you're ordering via eBay it is often "free shipping" (and even when they do sometimes charge shipping it would NEVER be anywhere near $20!!). And if you're doing it via Amazon and YouShop if you're doing another order already then the extra for that item is very minimal (between zero and a few dollars).
