I'm helping a friend set up their new Sony Bravia KDL-42W670A TV (replacing an old Panasonic plasma) and am trying to get it working nicely with the home theatre (Panasonic SA-PT560) and MySky box.

We bought a digital optical cable and had it going from the TV into the HT.  Sky is hooked up to the TV via HDMI, as is the HT.  I set up the TV to use the HT instead of the internal speakers.

The HT can switch between AUX input and D-IN (Digital In).  Obviously to get sound we have to have it set to D-IN.  When we have it set to D-IN we get Sky sound fine through the HT.  But when we switch the TV from HDMI 1 (Sky) back to TV the HT automatically switches from D-IN back to AUX and we lose sound.

Also the volume difference seems to change too.  A comfortable volume when watching Sky changes to a really loud volume when we switch back to TV.

We tried using the digital optical cable between the MySky and HT (rather than going via the TV) but this meant that when having the TV in TV mode the internal speakers were used and not the HT.

What we ideally want to do is have all sound going through the HT, no sound coming from the TV's internal speakers.  All volume (from TV, Sky and the HT's DVD player) the same level (so switching from one to the other doesn't cause the sound to increase or decrease massivly).

While most of the TV watching is done via Sky we also want to be able to watch the internet content that is accessed via the TV and have that sound go via the HT too.

I'm sure we can do what we want, it's just a matter of getting all the settings matched up!

To complicate matters the HT has Viera Link which I think might be interfaring.

Suggestions?

Step one, turn off all the Viera Link / Bravia Link settings on the h/theatre and TV, respectively.
Does that help?
Next, what audio out options are on the TV's menu?

Yeah I was thinking I needed to turn that stuff off.

I'll do that tomorrow and let you know where I'm at.

Thanks!

Assuming its similar in operation to my ex720, turn off all external control functions such as HDMI control and set speakers to audio amp, not tv speakers.
Pesumably the TV has an inbuilt iManual? Study it well to find all the settings available. Took me ages to find out how they all work. Trial and error was very helpful.

After turning off Viera Link and Bravia Sync everything now seems to be working nicely.

Thanks guys!
