hi guys

i have a problem with my htpc - projector setup at the moment - headache headache ! * ggrrrrrrrr *

Equipment :
- Pioneer SC-LX85 A/V Reciever
- Compaq PC with Radeon 6670 with manual switcher (to switch output between TV and Receiver Projector)
- Projector Sanyo PLV-Z2000
- HDMI cable : HDMI v1.3 (from Receiver to Projector and TV) and HDMI v1.4 from PC to Receiver

All equipments were bought brand new

Problem :
the picture via the PC / video card sometimes dropped out, gone blank (black) for 3-5 seconds (sometimes i even had to close the MPC-HC player and restarted it), so i can continue watching the movie. movie is played via MPC-HC, using madVR.

tried different cables to no luck

if i connect the pc direct to my tv, samsung PS63C7000, it went without a glitch, picture never drops out, unfortunately it's not the case if i put it through the av receiver for the projector display

any ideas please ???

thanks

also noticed that ARC does not work with HTPC due to CEC compliance issue unless we use a "pulse-eight" device

anyone here knows how to get around this issue ?

Does your receiver accept PC input? If so can you give it a go using a vga cable as it seems this could be a HDMI related issue.

hi mentor

thanks for the reply

i will check tonight

what makes you think it's hdmi issue ? is it a cable, peripheral or software issue ?

also, if i used vga connection, then i will only get the lowest pic quality instead of full hd ?

I know it sounds silly, but try new HDMI cables. I know they should just work, (or not work)... However, I have had a similar situation where an intermittent HDMI droupout was cured by binning a cable and replacing it with a new one.

For the price of HDMI cables, or just borrowing a couple, it's worth a try.

Also, what happens if you play direct form PC to projector? (I know you lose sound but it's just troubleshooting)

What about an alternate HDMI source? (MySky HDI? a tablet with HDMI out? A laptop? Blluray player?)

Cheers - N

i think you will just have to play around and see which device is causing the problem

try bluray to amp to projector, or onboard hdmi to amp to projector, even a different program like xbmc
