I have Corel windvd pro on my HTPC (specs below in my signature). It's the trial version.

I have a bluray drive and I'm trying out DVDs and blurays in it.

The picture is very poor on bluray. Exactly the same as DVD.

On my ps3 it looks fine though.

Is it an hdcp thing, a codec thing?

On System Information it says my video codecs are all by Microsoft, and under Display it identifies as AMD Radeon HD 7480 D.

Any ideas?

I use PowerDVD 10 for Bluray playback on my htpc and it is a definite improvement over dvd even on a 26inch screen in the bedroom. Not eye shattering better but still fairly big improvenent. Richer colours and detail especially

Rip your bluray to mkv and play it back using VLC media player.

Then, if it looks better, the problem is with your hdcp or software settings.

If your monitor is a few years old it may not support hdcp either.
