Having recently purchased some Diamond 9.1s, and running them at about level 55(not overly loud) via  my Onkyo TX-SR608 I find the tweeter in the right speaker has died. Is this a warranty job or something I can fix myself if I were to get an exact replacement tweeter ?

go with the warranty, they will probably just replace the speaker.

I had some Wharfedale valdus 500s back a few years a go (200 watt monster speakers) and blew a driver when I was testing how loud they would go. Noel Leeming replaced the broken one and I happened to notice that they had updated the design slightly (painted the cones) so they replaced both of my speakers so they would match.

Try Warranty but at the end of the day they might claim they have been overdriven. Tweeters are very easy and cheap to replace in these - only about $35

My opinions are purely my own and are not at all those of my employer 2degrees.

Murphy's Law, take it to the store and it works fine, bring it home and its still working fine. Unless the guy got my my speaker and the store one mixed up and accidentally swapped them over.
