As WMC users will know, when you have a program selected in the guide and press record once it records the episode and if you press it twice it records the series using your default series record settings. A third press will then cancel the recording.

All of a sudden, my WMC will no longer do the series record. If I press record once it will record the episode but if I press it again it cancels the recording without the option to record the series.

Right clicking with the mouse only gives me the same options. No option to record series. The series I had previouslyy set up to record are still recording as per usual

Anyone else seen this behaviour or know why it might occur? Cheers

I know this is no help to you, but thanks for the tip re button presses!

I've only just discovered the "actions" tab on series where you can get more control over when and which episodes it records.

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

TV3 (or someone associated) has made a few screwups with the EPG of late. TV3 news and Campbell Live were sending out as the same series/episode id for a few weeks at one point. That prevented WMC from recording as series.

What program/channel are you having issues with?

Are you using EPG Collector?

Thanks for the replies all. I am using BSEPG to load an xml file from a drop box folder. It all seems to still be working fine, although I did recently renew BSEPG as my license had expired, this issue may have started around the same time but I don't see off the top of my head why that would affect it?

I have tried this on tv3 (freeview) and on sky channels too (coming into htpc via stb).

Doesn't seem to work on any channel. Don't really want to have to wipe and rebuild the guide again, especially since I don't know if it will even help but that was my next thing to try.

Anyone else got any less time consuming options to try first? :)

An EPG Collector user reported a similar problem recently. He fixed it by wiping the MC database and starting again. It was OK after that.

If you can locate the mxf file that BSEPG creates you can see what programmes it has put in to what series so you can check if it's BSEPG or WMC where the problem lies. The mxf file is just a text file.

It won't be using series and episode to group programmes, more likely just title (or can you configure it in BSEPG?).
