Is anyone else getting this? Only seems to happen on SD channels? Audio keeps going but the picture is stuck on the frame when hitting the skip forward. Sometimes it starts playing again after a few seconds other times you have to skip back and forward a couple of times to make it unfreeze. I'm using LAV filters.

I'm getting this too on WMC, again just the SD channels. It started about a week ago. Not using any filters, just a vanilla win7 setup.

Its a pain - you don't know whether to leave it sort itself out, or to start flicking back and forth.

I get it mainly when playing recorded stuff - doesnt seem to matter the channel too much for me. Normally have to skip back 15 secs to fix.. Also using the LAV filters.

Filters are the software components that decode the video and audio streams, so the vanilla win7 setup will be using filters - you just don't happen to know what they are. Nothing wrong with that - if it works you don't really need to know how it does it.

I didnt have the same problems when using the powerdvd codecs btw, but the LAV ones are still vastly superior imho - I had lots of other issues with the powerdvd ones :)

Yep thanks. Not using any 3rd party filters.

I've always wondered why, given that now LAV filters are default to MP, MediaPortal cannot fast forward or rewind properly. XBMC was capable of this due to the reliance on FFMPEG (not able to select a different filter). MP wasn't able to compete due to the ability to use lots of different ones... Given that it now supports a default installable one out of the box, why does it still suffer?

Perhaps I'm being naive with the whole thing, but I would have thought it might have been something easier to fix now...

Do you actually mean fast forward as-in 2x, 4x, 8x, etc playback. I always thought it was a major headache to try and do that with HD video or with the h.264 codec in general but I noticed when I was at my parents that their Tivo can fastforward the HD channels just fine. As for skip steps I have no issue on HD channels only SD and it's only since 1.3 final. I *think*.

For me it happens when I skip. Makes no difference how many times I skip, or how fast.

So it is happening on WMC + Native filters, MediaPortal + LAV. Does anyone else have different permutations where this has started happening?

Is hardware the common link? My TV card is Hauppage WinTV HVR-2210.

Guys, which channels please?
I've seen it with channels like Firstlight on Freeview HD, using LAV. Have no access to Freeview satellite to test that at the moment.
I think it is possibly the encoders being tweaked to save on bits - reducing the frequency of safe entry points and/or I frames.

Definitely Prime, and definitely Choice. On Freeview HD. Not sure about Freeview Sat. Being mpg2 I assume it's ok.

Me too!

You have to play around with the skip buttons or just wait to make it work properly again. Doesn't happen every time but definitely often

Hmmm, I see what you mean.
I think something has changed. In the last few days even.
For me this is only happening for channels on the Kordia multiplex.
TV 3 Plus 1, C4, Shopping Channel, TV One Plus 1, U... all okay.
Same for everyone else?

[edit: I've been away from home on business for most of the last week, and to the best of my recollection this wasn't happening before I left... and I've changed nothing locally (codecs, drivers etc.)]
