Hi guys

I use to run a single Win7 MCE box back when freeview hd first came out, which was fine and worked well as a single pc. From memory media centre extenders were expensive at the time. It had a dual tuner hvr2200 in it. and used an XML epg from here

I'm ditched it and went to mysky and looking at ditching it again. I use a seperate instance of Plex and PMS for my tv shows/movies

What i'm after, and I'm not sure if this is possible.

- service 3 end points (2x lounges, bedroom)
- epg record from any room
- epg from webui or mobile phone (app or mobile web page)
- access recorded tv from any end point
- pause/resume from any device (like Plex currently does)

I think mediaportal looks like it does what I want, just wondering if there are any other alternatives.

I'm assuming I'm going to need a network based dvb-t tuner to share unless whatever app I use shares out its tuners over the network.

All my plex machines have hdmi video cards which pass through the audio to the receiver in each room currently to decode, and from memory the cards can off load the h.264 required for freeview hd. so in theory, just add tuners and software... maybe.

I'd take a look at NextPVR, ( http://www.nextpvr.com/ )

It's locally developed. and does all of the server / client stuff for recordings, and has both mobile web epg & android app (and streaming to both of these too)
It shares local tuners across the network, but you can use HD Homerun's to make it easier.

It also does multi record on dvb t & s (ie, one tuner can record all the channels from the TVNZ transponder)
(not sure about mediaportal)

I use nextpvr, and plex with a task set up to start plex from npvr.

I have played with mediaportal before, and found he setup a bit more involved, but still a good product - I've just had better luck with npvr in it's stability for recordings / live TV.

edit: like mediaportal, it has a plugin to allow it to be used with XBMC

I'd personally go with MediaPortal. It is a little more versatile than NextPVR (Which is still good) and it is actively developed by a large number of devs. Plus MM1352000 is on this site :-)

For those that care, I've gone with mediaportal for live tv and continue with plex, until i integrate them together.

+1 for MP. I'm not sure if NextPVR can work with encrypted sky channels.

Yes it can, it has its own native decryption api.. I just prefer the open source nature of MP... And of course DJBlu's Sky mods for MP :-)
