Wife kind of dropped a hint that I maybe allowed some play money towards a soundbar.... I'm not going to say no as my current sound setup isnt ideal for the PS3/TV :)

Will be a "budget" soundbar - so have narrowed down to one of these (only a few $$ between the two) - opinions ?

LG

Samsung

Will mainly be used for PS3 (gaming and movies) not a lot of "live" TV.

TIA

I saw a Panasonic one the looked cool a month or so back. Think it was called a Transformer or something. Have a feeling it wasn't a budget model so didn't go hunting for one.

Had a bad run with LG products in this household unfortunately so of the two would lean towards the Samsung. Really need to hear them though to be sure.

I've got an LG washing machine, fridge, microwave and TV, and all have been 100% reliable. Not doubting your experience, but you tend to get a wide range of different anecdotes when it comes to appliance reliability.

My mother in law has a Panisonic tv and wanted some speakers to give some more bass as she listens to the Concert radio through it. I looked at speakers that are the same brand as the tv as they have Viera link and she can use one remote to control volume

http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?e=1184678

I listened to some in JB-HIFI and sound was good...she didn't buy them in the end due to cost but I thought they were good, quite versatile in setup and has a wireless sub

Which 1 did you decide to go with? Can you please tell where is the Samsung one available? I am also in the same boat and have a Samsung TV so was thinking of buying one.

I havent got one yet.... was only bought up yesterday :)

Have a look at JBHifi, they have a few.

Didnt even think about Panasonic ones (duh), would be good to have matching gear :) And pricing is about the same too...

A little tip: Samsung is running a promotion where they give away Samsung HW-F751 soundbar with some LED TVs. The retail price of these are around $850 but they sell for a lot less than that on Trademe.

I am looking at Philips HTL9100 - which are now sold out in NZ but they are available in AU for around 800.
It can do wireless 5.1 when needed, looks great as well. Read some reviews :)

I've also been looking at sound bar options. I like the sonos http://www.sonos.com/mobile/introducing/playbar . Not cheap locally but from us (shipito)... is where I'm leaning.

Cheers, Stevo
