Hi,
I have been experiencing issues with my Sky digital decoder for the last 12-18 months - intermittently to begin with, but now almost constant.
Many of the programs I watch are during the night or while I'm at work, so I book them on the EPG and record them to my HDD recorder.
In the past, about 10% of the time, when the start time arrived for the booked program, the decoder would change to the required channel, but 5 seconds later would change to the Preview channel. Since the channels all changed numbers, it happens almost every time, but now after changing to the booked channel, it will flick over to Sky Sports 1 or ESPN within 5 seconds.
The first time I rang Sky (over a year ago) I was told they would send a tech out to replace the decoder. As it was intermittent, I decided I couldn't be bothered taking the time off work, so declined. A couple of months ago, when it became more regular, I rang the, again and was told there was no point in sending a tech as it was a software problem that was being worked on - no resolution date known - live with it.
I left it until a couple of days ago, then rang them back to be told they could send a tech to replace the decoder - knew nothing of a software problem. Spoke to somebody else, who confirmed a software problem but said that most peoples decoders change to the Weather channel (like I care). She was going to get back to me, but so far I have heard nothing.
Basically, I want to get a feel for how widespread this issue is, before I ring them up again to demand action.
Also, I have seen discussions on satellite, and people being advised to select Optus D1 T5-L, but I don't have that option - mine is set to B1 T5L. How do I tell if my software is up to date?
TIA
