Is there some way to connect the My Sky machine to a computer to download the movies off it?

We have a USB-A to USB-A cable but when its connected from My Sky to the computer it doesn't recognise it?

Does this work or is there a better way to do it?

I am no expert on this matter but i think from seeing other threads, that the info is encrypted ont he box, so even if you got it off at some expense, it would be nearly useless (or just too hard to bother with)

NZNewbie: Is there some way to connect the My Sky machine to a computer to download the movies off it?

You would need to have a Video Capture card in your PC to do this.  Then you select MySky to output recorded programmes to the VCR port (SCART connector).

According to the manual I have, the USB port is not implemented in the current software version Frown

Maybe this situation will change with the new HD version of MySky due to be released next year (I hope so...).

would be nice wouldnt it:) but i'm afraid there is no way. the only possibility is if you're an inside man with inside information AND have the tools AND you are above the law. if you want to you copy the commercials for example you need to do it the analog way. please note however to observe copyright laws.
