Hi guys.

I am looking at buying some movies from overseas because there is big savings to be made in most cases. I am currently looking on Amazon however 90% of the movies + tv series are Region A/1 for Bluray, meaning it wont play here unless you do some tinkering.

That's just one example of how much cheaper it is (even if it is on sale). Its a good $35-$40 cheaper (Not including shipping however).

So besides Amazon which is filled with Region A/1 Movies/Tv Series, where do you import yours from?

Amazon seems to list all Blu-rays as region A regardless of whether they're actually restricted or not. I haven't come across a single WHV release that's restricted so you're probably safe to buy that one.

But personally I have a region-free player so I don't tend to even look at the code when buying things :)

Amazon.co.uk, not always as up to date as US, but region b, so no playback issues

But personally I have a region-free player so I don't tend to even look at the code when buying things :)

Oh really? Well for that price it might be worth the gamble anyway on that tv series. However I don't want to end up with something I cant play obviously.

I have bought many Blu-Rays from Amazon.co.uk. I find the prices are good if you wait and not buy new releases and shiping is much faster than US. Normally I get my shipment within a week even with the standard shipping, with Amazon US I am usually waiting about 3 weeks.

WowHD is also a good place but prices not as good as Amazon.

According to Bluray.com and HD Movie Source, season one of Arrow is region free so will work on your player. I have a region free player and majority of movies that I have imported from the US are region free.

Grab a region free player when you see one on sale as a backup for your main one. I got a Veon from the Warehouse for $49.95 which is region-selectable for blu-ray. The quality is .... adequate.

Most US disks aren't actually regioned at all. If you buy a cheapie multi-region player you can buy knowing that it will probably play on your nice main unit, but you have a fall-back option if it doesn't.

Look the title up before buying. There are a number of places that will list whether a disc is region locked or not.

Apart from regions, the versions of Blu-rays sold in different countries are not always the same as different companies may handle the releases. Sometimes the release in one country will be inferior to another's in mastering or content. A surprisingly large number of discs have mastering errors.
