I am using a shared Sky dish for Freeview.  I am waiting for the switch over to horizontal polarity before using Freeview as it blocks the signal to the Sky user (not me). I read somewhere that Sky was switching to horizontal polarity on 26th May but it hasn't happened yet. Can anyone tell me when the changover is scheduled?

I asked Sky TV that very question via their website last week. A very pleasant and helpful person actually rang me back to say they would be changing to Horizontal "on or before July 31st". The suggestion was that it would be on or very close to that date. I guess they are in no hurry (to help Freeview).

A date around the end of july is likely to be very much the date. I dont believe there is some big conspiracy on Skys part for the late change. There are quite a few technical challanges to go thought to implement such a change.

It should be pointed out that the need to move to Hpol was not by either FreeViews agenda or on Skys agenda. The need to move was forced upon both parties by a stuff up that was totally unintended by Optus and Orbital. The delay of Sky to move to Hpol is more related to the complexity of the change rather than some poitical point scoring. Sky have to change, otherwise there ability to expand their services is compromised.

A little bit of a snippet about the move to H-Pol here. I have been waiting for this too. Ever since D1 was launched.... As Rachel Hunter says... It won't happen overnight....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
