I notice that MCE 2005 and scraping EPGs have been discussed here on a number of occasions, and hope someone can help me.
This is a challenge alright. I'd dearly love to register at www.reven.co.nz for some xmlTVNZ support, but since reven's got his new site up, all my attempts to register have failed (activation email never arrives). I've struggled and tried a variety of sources, with xmlTVNZ V2.5.0.0 and at last have a working guide in TV1 and TV2, but TV3, C4 and Prime (using SKY data) remain empty. It appears from research that SKY's EPG data is now broken from 1st June. I can see suggestions of using xmlTVNZ v3 beta, but as a guest, I can't gain access to this or much of the useful info. If anyone can help with contact details for reven, or a copy of V3 beta or suggested sources for EPG data that work, I'd be most grateful.

Hi, TV3 grabbing seems to have been broken for a while, so I use SKY_TV3 in my command line and that seems to work fine. I have no trouble getting Prime EPG though - so not sure what the problem is with that. The command line I use with xmltvnz is TV1 TV2 SKY_TV3 PRIME and that works for me.

PS I am using v2.5.0 also. It might also help to empty the Resource and Cache directories also, that helped when I lost TV3 and replaced it with SKY_TV3.

Cheers Mike

Thanks Mike. I changed my Prime source away from SKY - and now I have a populated EPG - Yay!
My command line is now: xmltvnz.exe xmltv.xml -days 2 -seconds -nogenres -noactors addseconds nocategory nocast tv1 tv2 sky_tv3 sky_c4 prime

I'm using a Hauppauge PVR150 analog tuner card, and would like to connect my SKY decoder to the video in, and switch SKY channels with the included IR blaster. I have no idea how to make MCE select an external input and send IR commands out. I'm assuming this is possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have no experience with MCE as I use GBPVR, which allows this easily. In essence though, I think you need to create another "channel" which derives its input - not from the Tuner but - from the Line Inputs. The IR transmitter may or may not work depending on the SKY STB decoder that you have.  I was able to get mine working using the MYSKY box but gave up in the end because of too many failures to change channel correctly. The MYSKY is not that reliable (from my experience) in responding to the IR transmitter. Other SKY STB's do work ok though - so you may have better luck.

Spend some time at the Green Button site ie http://thegreenbutton.com/default.aspx they have a useful forum that may be of help especially with MCE.

Cheers Mike
