Hi there, just looking for some advice on purchasing a new BD Player. The one I currently have is having a number of issues and needs replacement.

The player will be used for BD discs, dvd's and playing video's off USB flash drive's as well. It takes a fair beating in this house with children and will get used almost daily.

Any advice on what would be the best pick, up to around the $250 mark.

Samsung 6500 seems the cheapest they do with all the smart stuff and would be my choice.

I would take a look at the BD-F5100, for $49 you can't go wrong. It will let you stream content from your laptop etc and you can run apps like Netflix, YouTube etc.

Bluray is now at a price point for mass adoption.

However, I've heard people complaining that all the local video rental stores have closed so they cannot rent them anyway.

So there's not much difference between a $50 model, and a $200 model?

I don't need wifi, as my modem sits in the same cabinet as the BD Player.

Ive got one of these, and you cant do Netflix or Pandora....the "NZ Firmware" has Youtube, Facebook, Accuweather, and Some other video service. Not sure if you can add/remove apps, or flash to the US firmware to get netflix, but I wouldnt count on it. Anyone know?
