Just wondering...

What do these functions actually do?

Lookups:
From what I can deduce, the lookups tab grabs thumbnails... and maybe some metadata which you can use to overwrite the provided info?

I'm using Mediaportal with TV Series and Moving pictures pluggins, so is this redundant for me?
Incidentally, if I enable it, it crashes with error 5 anyway.

Repeats:
I can't figure this one out... when/why/how would I use this?

Edit tab:
Im loving the edit tab, thank you very much!
Im currently removing "All New" and "Movie: " from titles and "New Episode. " from descriptions.
This means I have a better chance of automatically matching things into my TV series and MMovie pluggins (Mediaportal).
Anything else I should be substituting?

Lookups access the internet movie and TV series databases (TMDB and TVDB) to add metadata (cast, crew, ratings, thumbnails). If you are using an MP pluginto do the same thing I wouldn't use it.

Repeats are for WMC users.

Other possible edits are

Season Finale.
New Season.
New Series:
New Series.

Take a look at the xmltv file. You might spot some others.

Cool, thanks for that.

I'll add your other edit/text replacement suggestions into my config.

While I have been using EPGCollector for years I haven't kept up with newer developments as time has been really limited for me but now things have eased off a tad I will be installing it on my test rig for playing purposes .... is there any way of getting info on all the features in EPG Collector without having to wade through heaps of threads??

How well does it work with our limited EPG data in NZ??

I have been doing a similar thing for quite some time now using a replace.exe program in my UpdateEPG batch file & this is the list I have come up with......so far... as I add to it often ;)  (I have only worried about title currently)

There is a ReadMe installed with the software. Long winded but detailed.

As far as I can remember the hit rate is around 50% for the NZ FTA programmes for lookups so worth doing IMO. The initial collection run to load the local metadata database can take a long time (a couple of hours) but after that it adds maybe 5 minutes to a collection to lookup new programmes.

The punctuation edits you do aren't necessary to make lookups work. As long as you don't choose exact matching the search logic will find the correct title but a useful list nonetheless.

Jaggy: How well does it work with our limited EPG data in NZ??

My Tuppence...
Things seems to be slowly, but surely getting better and better.
The combination of outlets adding the data, and SJBs latest update means we now have the series data for most shows that I care to record.
Last night NCIS and NCIS: LA recorded for the first time with the series data, allowing my lookups (I use an addon in MediaPortal that does much the same thing) to function, and making me quite the happy camper.

Thx, I've added a bunch of those.
I try and do description also because I am trying to get a reverse lookup working.  ie. use a program to use the description text to identify the series/episode.
Im not having any luck with this so far.
