Hi,

So if you saw my previous thread I'd picked up a Gigabyte HA91 HTPC and have now got a MS MCE Remote to go with it (working nicely). Anyway, so I've been mucking around with it and am quite happy with the whole Picture/Music/DVD thing and have now installed it under my TV, and so of course thought I'd tune in some TV Channels.

Funny thing is tho, that although with my aerial plugged directly into my TV I get a good picture for 1,2,3,C4 and prime, when plugged into the HA91, and after doing an automatic scan, it only finds 1,2,3,C4 - no prime.

I believe the tuner in the HA91 is a AVermedia M755. I'm about to do a google to see if I can come up with anything but thought I would post here also to see if anyone knew what was up with this or if anyone else with a HA91 had seen this problem.

Anyway, any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

I only have my sky decoder hooked up. My HA91 changes the channels on the Sky decoder automatically, so I just get all my channels that way....

Ahh yes, bummer for me - no sky.

Anyway, after a little fiddling and googling I think the problem has been "worked around" - looks to be a generic Media Center issue, rather than anything specific to the HA91. Initially I thought the auto scan was not doing its thing, and luckily (or so I thought) my TV reported the Frequency of each channel it had tuned into and I had the chart that showed be the channel to frequency relationship - so I went to manually add the channel for sky but media center told me "Invalid Channel".

Anyway, long story short, looks like the "NZ" region in Media Center doesnt think we use UHF and so it doesnt search for anything in that band (stink). There may be an update or something I can get to fix this, but I'm pretty sure I'm running the latest media center rollups, and I couldnt find anything on the MS site about it (could be there somewhere I guess).

The work around was to change the media center region to "The Netherlands" and now I can get all channels :) Found this out from another post somewhere on another forum via google (what would we do without it!).

Anyway, hopefully this wont affect anything when I go to set up the EPG...

<urgh!> Something about talking too soon comes to mind...

Now I cant get TV one - although the channel/frequency combo looks right, I get a blank screen - when I have my region set to NZ, this same channel/frequency combo gets TV One fine - ARGH!!! Other than that I now get Maori, Prime, CTW, a bunch of encrypted sky channels all coming through in MCE (along with 2,3,C4) - but no TV One!!

So, I can get TV One and Prime, but just not without reconfiguring the MCE TV Region each time I want to switch between them...

Is it just me, or is this way too hard...

I was pretty happy with this whole MCE thing until now...

OMG, I think its finally over...

So after a bit of mucking around and a temptation to play with the "MCETuningOverides.xml" (which I didnt in the end), I can finally get 1,2,3,Prime,CV, Maori etc

In the end all I had to do was tell MCE that I was in fact in NZ, and my incoming feed was cable (like an idiot I had been telling it that my antenna was an antenna) without a set top box. It then starting scanning in the UHF range .

Now that its working, I'm well impressed with the live TV thing (although I am easily impressed) - being able to pause and rewind live TV is cool.

As soon as I get my LAN connection cabled to where my TV is, I'll have a go at the EPG - I bet that will be easy :)

later,

I'm afraid that your DVB-T tuner card is of no use to you here as we only have Analog TV (or DVBS Satellite freeview).  You will need to buy an Analog tuner card such as the "Hauppauge PVR150"

Please do not hijack threads. This thread is only concerned with tuning TV specifically on a Gigabyte HA91. Other models, or other issues should be in their own thread (which helps you more than anyone else...)
