I don't need another tv.

Noel leeming has samsung UA40F5000 40" LED for $500ish bucks.

No reviews on google.

Is this tv bad? I don't want to buy it!

bought one 3 weeks ago for $699, am I gutted, hell yeah.

Its a great TV and I have just received my MK809 mini Android PC so going top hook it in.

how is the sound quality (full and deep or sharp and annoying), picture quality (how black are blacks, how white are whites instead of blue/green, any green/yellow/other tinge to the pictures)

I have my PC and home theatre hooked into it so don't use the TV sound but what I heard was ok but nothing really to compare it to.

Its LED so the blacks are good and the whites are off white so not as good as a plasma in that respect. It also depends on what setting you use as I change when I'm using PC to a bit less saturated to a bit more when watching HD movies.

Its a very good TV for the Money.

It's close to the bottom of the line Samsung... The ones I've seen have required a lot of tweaking out of the box to get anything close to decent colours. Out the box, the over saturated picture is fairly bleurgh, but you can, of course, tweak it. The motion performance is pretty average, but hey, it's $540 or so. Sound is useless, but again, you'd expect that.
Also, it's 1 dollar less at almost every other store around Chch right now. Basically they all PriceSpy the bejeebus out of each other and ticket up $1 lower. Loss leaders don't really work in the retail world anymore... it's just too easy for competitors to one-up each other.

You would get a much better picture with the F6400 and you get the Samsung Smart hub. You can, with a few tweaks, convince the Samsung Smart Hub Store that you reside in the UK or US, and then get all the streaming video apps for those regions. You need to use a DNS service like Unotelly or Unblockus.

F6400 has a much faster refresh rate, has local led dimming, resulting in better contrast between dark and light areas, resulting in a more true to life picture.

I would save your money, wait for the 2 weeks before Christmas when price drops go crazy and then buy the better model.

Compare them both in a store and you'll see the difference. It is substantial.

of course you will get a better picture its a better TV but more expensive so hardly a good comparison. I looked at the 6400 and 5500 and given I don't want 3D nor smart TV it suited my needs even if the picture isn't as good, but hardly noticeable to me.

You get what you pay for and apart from the price dropping after I bought mine I'm happy with decision.

For $540 go for it if you want it.
