Hi Guys ,
Heres is what I have done ... I have copied all my dvd movies to my home NAS in the MKV file format so I can play from my nas to most devices in my house .I DO NOT like to compress video as our screens get bigger we need to maintain picture quality !

my NAS is a QNAP 212 and storage isnt a problem , I have a AC Ryan Media player which plays my MKV files how ever I do have a Sony Smart tv and Xbox 360 which I would like to use rather than having to buy lots of media players these two devices  do not like MKV's so my question is this ... I'm happy to convert the MKV files into a file format that all my devices can play but Im NOT wanting to compress them down I  just want to change the "container" to a format that they can all play without loss of video quality .

I cant seem to find a container to convert my files too and would love any help from this forum ...... again I do not want to compress these files down as video quality is top priority !

cheers
Andrew W

Best you first check which containers and codecs are supported by your Sony TV as that is likely to be the most "limited" as to what it will play and go from there.

What resolution and bit rate are you MVKs?

if they have only come from DVD masters then tho be honest there is no problem to recode them from MVK to something in an MP4 container that you Sony devices will handle,

IF you were talking about copies from Blurays then you will have more issues as the Sony devices can get picky with very high bit rates
