Just wondering if anyone has this model, and if so, can you access Netflix and Huluplus etc on it, here in NZ or can you "alter" it to make it access those apps.

Thanks

You probably need something like Unblock-US in your network configuration.

I don't have it, but just wondered if its possible to have those apps installed here, looking at that model as a suggestion for my parents.

Some of them you can (you'd need Unblock-US or a VPN though), then you would have to reset the player and hope when it comes back up it thinks it is in the US and loads the Apps for that country. It would also mean you would not get the Apps for this country (like ondemand apps).

If it were me (and I didn't already have a smartTV), I would get a Samsung SmartHub Blu-ray player (because the Samsungs will give you 3 Ondemand and TVNZ onDemand - none of the others will give you both yet) and an AppleTV or Roku and set it up for Netflix/UnblockUS (AppleTV probably easier as you can change its DNS settings on the device, rather than the whole network on the router).

I know some Samsung TV can do this (see http://www.eyeondemand.com/ for instructions on how to do it). The advantage with the Samsung TVs is that you can use apps from multiple counties at once (i.e. US Netflix, UK BBC Aussie iView etc). I have this working on an F series Samsung TV for a few months and its been great.

As already mentioned something like UnoTelly or Unblock-US is also required, but once setup it just works.
