Looking at the apps available for a Samsung TV, the only explanation I can come up with is that Panosonic is not even trying. Seriously, Pandora became available in New Zealand like 2 years ago, but still no Panasonic app. I think the only sports offering is Major League Baseball (and it's over $100 a year).

Yeah I think its a bit of a sore point for the sales frontage staff...

Not quite as awesome a selling point with all the others now promoting built in TVNZondemand and Tv3 ondemand apps sitting solely in the hands of the other popular maker..

I love my Panasonic I have a TH-P55VT50Z , the apps suck and I don't waste my time with any of them but I bought mine for the picture and not worried about the apps or the 3D gimmick. I have a HTCP setup with mine so outdoes any of the apps anyway.

Same deal with LG, the app store is worthless unless you want QuikFlix.

I think you're probably right, they're not trying, on the app front specifically. Relying on their TV's to sell themselves for Image Quality.

Well that's the point I suppose...
Selling TV's based on apps is sort of like selling cars based on cup holders.

If you want apps on your TV, either buy a HTPC, plug in a laptop, or get a 'smart TV box'. Apple TV's / WD TV's cost $150-$200 and are cheap enough to change out every few years or so. To my mind, buying a TV because they have an exclusive app (Panasonic have Trademe / Samsung has TV3's on-line effort) is foolish, as exclusive deals don't last forever...

Cars should have cup holders. But yes you are on the right path. However, marketing a tv that can do it all is probably easier, and to the average consumer, telling them they can do on demand over wifi with the push of X buttons, is probably actually quite successful.
