I'm trying to find out what is causing the 1/2 second noise that is being played whenever mythbuntu plays a avi file.
My setup is myth box, hdmi to onyko hometheatre amp. Mythtv to Amp to tv. The video that is play is fine.
It only does this on the left front speaker of a 5.1 speaker system. Though will shift to the center speaker if only the front and sub are selected.
I ripped my movies to mkv and they play fine, the odd mp4 that I have also play ok. I encode to mkv using handbrake. So most of the avi files are downloads. I haven't tried to encode
to avi which is something that I'll try and do over the weekend to be able to make a comparison.
I have read that its because the hdmi connection is broken everytime a media file is played and that this is because linux does not keep the connection between myth box and amp open whereas windows does by playing a silent track underneath what is being played.
I'm sorry that I don't have more details and what I do have is from memory. If that is correct then why does it only do it only do it when I'm running things through the amp and mostly avi files downloaded from the net. And cause the distortion in one speaker out of 6.
