Hey all having an odd problem with my tv reading some mp4 files on a external seagate 2TB hard drive I brought

while most of my files will play on it some are not playing I've converted them from mkv and the odd thing is I put the same files that won't play on a smaller 750 GB hard drive and the files will play no problem

I've formatted the 2TB hard drive to see if it helped but some files will not play but will play on the other harddrive

all I can guess at this point is the names are too long or something

any help will be appreciated

media players built into tv's are dodgy buggers at best.

first check that the tv's firmware is up to date, if not, then load the latest version (assuming it is user updatable).

if that doesn't fix things, look at a standalone media player - cheap as chips these days, just make sure it will play the formats you intened to use.
