I've had OSCAM running for a while but have started to get some card reader instability recently with the card not being accessible to OSCAM. I'm running Windows 7 x64 with an Infinity Unlimited reader in virtual COM port mode.

Once OSCAM stops accessing the card I seem to need to at least restart the card reader process within OSCAM, but sometimes need to also restart the Infinity VCP program, or unplug and replug in the infinity reader.

After some reading I found that the infinity reader should be directly accessible by OSCAM without the VCP util by changing the device line to Infinity;001:003 with the numbers representing the USB device information which can be found by running List_smargo (which comes with OSCAM). Problem is that whenever I run this I get STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION. I've tried reinstalling Cygwin and doing a rebaseall which should sort these out and am running as admin but no luck so far.

From what I can see if this doesn't work then OSCAM won't work directly either.

With all this I'm wondering whether it's just worth getting an Omnikey but I'm a little concerned that I may experience the same problem if it uses this same method.

Can someone that has an omnikey run the list_smargo utility and see what you get? Particularly if you have Win7 x64 or above. If you can directly read the card from OSCAM but get the same error then I guess it's safe. If it works then possibly bugger. I might need to figure out what's happening on mine.

I'm using an Omnikey 1021 on Win7 32-bit.  List_smargo also generates STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION in the stackdump file.  Oscam works fine.

Great. Thanks for that. Looks like I'll be getting one then. I take it you run the card at 5mhz without any damage to the card.

I run it at 3.5Mhz.  The max the 1021 reader offered was 4.5Mhz and it didn't work at that frequency.  Worked at 4Mhz but occasionally had read errors, so dropped to 3.5 (357 in the Oscam.server).

The 3121 apparently works fine at 5Ghz.
