Setup my shiny new Nova-S card on the weekend and selected Optus D1. After some searching time, up popped a nice long list of channels - great! Sadly, TV1 and 2 are coming thru fine (Maori too) but TV3 and C4 aren't to be found. Well, there's a listing at 12483 for TV3 but it's black, no picture - presume that's the Sky retransmission? I've tried to get it to search at 12456 where I believe TV3 is supposed to be, but no joy :(

Any thoughts? At this stage, I'm just using the WinTV2000 software that comes with the card for channel surfing. It sounds like plenty of you have this working, love to know what the trick is!

the transponder for TV3 sometimes needs to be manually added.  I had the same issues too.

Thanks guys. I had tried getting it to scan the TV3 frequency with little luck - is there a way to add a specific channel that I'm missing, allstarnz? I'm going to give it another crack shortly anyway with this info in hand, fingers crossed.

The WinTV2000 software that comes with the card

Tried to scan just 12456 last night - it finds a bunch of channels, mostly Sky ones but also Maori channel, but still no sign of TV3 (or C4)

My Nova-s plus dropped TV1 and TVNZ sport a while ago. I fixed it by uninstalling the card, removing all drivers then reinstalling with all the latest drivers from Hauppauge. I run my Nova thru XPMCE, so I also undid, then re-applied the registry hacks. I tried rescanning, manual scan, driver rollbacks and everything else i could think of, but the only way i got it back was by uninstalling and then reinstalling the card.

I think that was because they messed around with the channel ids though.  I just did a rescan of channels when that happened and they came back again.

Perhaps gfkBill could try installing gbpvr or mediaportal instead of using wintv?

I'm trying GB-PVR as it happens - that works out worse, it won't find any channels. Man this is getting irritating - I'm a pretty techie guy so i hate it when I can't figure this sort of thing out!

Rollux, I've been down that road - did you shift the card to another slot, or just a software uninstall/reinstall?

i'm using GB-PVR and it works fine.

As long as you select the right option, you should be more than fine. Optus 1D is on there. Also you can edit the .ini file to change stuff too.  I'm not at home at the moment, so can't check exactly what to choose.

Try posting on the GB-PVR forums, there's some pretty clued up people on there.

Mine lost the channels so i tried rescanning, etc to no avail so i uninstalled it, shifted it down a slot and then it wouldn't work at all! Shifted it back and reinstalled card and never had a problem since. Still no idea why it stopped, first of all dropped TVNZ sport, then 2 weeks later dropped TV1. No probs now, even got TVNZ6 coming up now.

Regards
Dan

BTW I don't use WINTV, only MCE for TV

I had this issue just a few weeks ago...even got a tv guy to check my aerial was pointing correctly and test my cable

All it was in the end was the software not scanning Horizontal - had to force it to use horizontal even though it scans and says it picks up all those channels you have they will be in vertical polarity

Thanks guys, I finally sorted it. Had to go into the setup options on my sky box, find the Lo Freq for the LNB, and punched that into WinTV2000 (can't remember which fields, but freq was 10750KHz) then rescanned - et viola, not only TV3, but all the extra TVNZ channels I wasn't seeing too. Dunno why it would find some channels but not other on previous scans, but there you go.

Bring on the Rugby World Cup!
