I am a newbie to this site but it looks great!

I have brought a Panasonic SC-PT450 home theater sound system and I am unsure how to link this up with my SkyHD box. When I connect my HD TV with the SC-PT450 the DVD up scaling and surround sound is amazing but I can’t figure out how to get surround sound working when watching Sky?

Is there a cable I need or a setting I’ve not done? I have tried a scart lead from the SC-PT450 to Sky and then a HDMI cable from Sky to the TV but that doesn’t work! The TV only has one HDMI port (as does Sky) and I don’t want to lose the HD quality from Sky. Is there an audio cable that could go from the TV to the SC-PT450 that would work?

Any help would be much appreciated!

perhaps you could tell us what model HD TV you have?

There does not appear to be any SPDIF optical/coax audio inputs on the SC-PT450 which is a shame so it might come down to what the audio output capabilities of your screen are (e.g. passthrough etc)

actually, scratch all that... there doesnt appear to be any audio inputs on the SC-PT450 unit so you won't be able to get the sound from the SKY box OR the TV to the amp...

you needed to buy the next model up to get the extra audio input:

http://panasonic.com.au/products/details.cfm?productID=6059

The SC-PT550 features a Digital Audio Input Optical terminal for connection to other compatable devices for digital sound. You can connect a Set-Top-Box or other compatable device for clear digital sound through the DVD Home Theatre System.

is it too late to take it back and swap it?
