Hi all,

If I have a Sky STB connected to a ATI Theatre 550pro via S-video and a HVR 3000 using DVB-S directly from the sat feed is there a PVR solution that will allow me to record the freeview channels via DVB-S while still recording the rest of the Sky channels (with IR blaster) from the Sky STB?

I would prefer a free windows based solution if possible (I dont ask much aye).

I thought Media Portal would do the job, as I was looking at a similar super pvr system, combining Freeview for 1/2/3 and Sky digital for Discovery, etc.

MediaPortal TVServer! Not only can you record analog and DVB-S at the same time you can record multiple DVB-S cahnnels from the same card at the same time! (if they are on the same transponder that is) So you could record record all the TVNZ channels at the same time Or all the Canwest channels. If you have 2 DVB-S cards just think of the possibilities you can record all freeview channels at once! And not just record the the multiple channels share them around the house via the networked clients. Check out my setup below!  It's free! It's OpenSource! It's fantastic!

Mcraenz's shamelsss plug is absolutely correct!  The TVEngine3 in Media Portal just works a treat. I have it setup and it happily records TV1 and TV2 together from the one Nova S Plus DVB-S card. Shortly I hope to have the HVR4000 card installed, so wiith its two tuners I will be able watch or record to all that mcrae outlines TV1, TV2, TV3 and Prime (via the DVB-T - Analogue tuner on the HVR4000) all at the same time.

Having Media Portal and its TVEngine3 is a really sweet solution and not that difficult to setup if you following mcrae's guides. There is also a ton of help in the wiki at the Media Portal site and the forum.

Cheers Mike
