OK, so as per previous topics i have gone with the tv server setup! Now i cannot get the tv server to have its settings recognized by Media Portal! I think i have narrowed down the problem to the plugin

When I open media portals Config and cllick on the plugin tab it comes up with several alerts such as

"An error occured while loading the plugine TvPlugin.Radio. It's incompatible with the current mediaportal version and won't be loaded."

I just dont get it!?

I am running I am using the current stable release of media portal and the latest Tv Server

Any help?

Did you install the complate Media Portal base system v2.3.0 RC2 and then apply the SVN snapshot or did you just install the SVN snapahot?  Install the base system first and get that running, then the latest SVN snapahot and get that running then add the TVEngine3 and its latest snapshot.

PS there are some very useful How To's linked from other threads to help.

Cheers Mike

Compare what you have done with the how-to's noting especially the configuration of your TV cards. What cards do you have? Are they digital or analogue - what brands?

It sounding like MP is telling you that it cannot see a TV signal so I would start there.

Cheers Mike

The card is a Haugpage 3000

I ran the debug mode and cameback with the error log

Thanks for all your help mike!

EDIT: It should be noted i am able to watch all of the channels on Wintv! And the progress of the show visible in Mediaportal just no actual show!!

There appears to be two issues in that log; one relating to the MUX filter and the other relating to tuning.

I suggest that you visit the Media Portal site and review the wiki notes on setting up Hybrid cards. Sounds like you have the HVR3000 which is a hybrid card. They do have some special considerations because, whilst they appear to be a three tuner card they are a single tuner tri mode card.  The wiki notes explain how to group the individual tuners recognised by Windows into a single group, which MP recognises as a single tuner and not three seperate tuners.

There is also a thread (just a little further down in this sub forum - started by itlman) involving that same card, so review that also. There are a number of variables to getting that card configured for DVB-S and that thread really covers the bulk of them. Note especially the setting of the Local Oscillator. If you have been able to tune the Satellite (which I guess you have otherwise there would be no point in trying to watch Live TV), then you have probably got the card config right.

Regarding the MUX filter, what option have you selected in the Recording tab for the DVB-S card - .ts or .mpg. If you have selected .mpg try changing that to .ts which might help. MPG demuxing is a whole other level of issues.

Cheers Mike

Are you using analog or DVB-S(Freeview)? Were you able to scan in the channels? I've not seen an HRV-3000 but I assume that it shows up as separate cards in tvserver? Make sure the right (type of)  channels are assigned to right cards. If that makes sense!? That is if you manually added analog channels make sure they are only mapped to the analog "card" not the DVB-S "card".

If you map an analog channel to both analog and DVB-S card and  the DVB-S card is set to a higher priority then it might cause that error?

Hmmmmmm,

Have tried lots of different things over the course of the day. What i have come to the conclusion of is that i canno change the recording Card option in the TV Server.

By default it is set to the DVB T card which i am not even using (and is disabled in the manual control). Even when i change the choice to DVB S click ok and go out i go back in and its back on DVB T. I have know idea why it wont keep the choice and have a feeling this is the reason im failaing with MediaPortal.

And the tuning is fine as i can preview in TV server with no problems!

Any other ideas!? Im getting over this fast!

What do you mean by "Even when i change the choice to DVB S" Do you mean in Mediaprotal? Can I ask did you ever have the card working with MS MCE? The reason I ask is that it sounds like the card is in pseudo DVB-T mode which is required to get DVB-S to work in MS MCE (it has not support for DVB-S!!!) There is either a tool to switch it to dvb-s mode or some registry hacks? But can I just confirm you do have the card connected to a dish and you're trying to get freeview?

I found a couple of posts on the MP forums that basicly conclude that this card doesnt work to well in TV server. One guy had set it up in GBPVR instead and then configured MP to use that as its TV server.

Just do a search on hvr 3000 dvb-s in the MP forums for more info.

Ok i have offically given up on MP server! :P

I amgoing with the current version of WinTV for now (i know, shudddder!!)

I dont have much time to keep using on trying to get this working.. My other option is to head over to the darkside and use mythTV on linux :P

Thanks all for your help this is the point i was up to anyway.. I had a clean version of windows installed all the software again and went to test in TV server to find the error "Preview Failed:NoVideoAudioDetected"

So that is a step backwards from yesterday when i could at least see the preview in TV server.

I may investigate the software in the future when it all is a little less complicated!!

Thanks again for everyones help!

Well I don't think Linux is the dark side - its just really hard unless you actually know what your doing - hence the reason I use Windows.

Before you give up completely, try GBPVR out. I have both GBPVR and MP installed and they work just fine. Not really sure which is the easiest, but GBPVR went together without too much effort.

The trouble your having is sounding like a codec issue though. Shortly I will be building an HTPC from scratch. I will document everything that I install and perhaps that may help you - in addition to the other documentation here and at the MP site.

Good luck

Cheers Mike

Try GBPVR - I just got an HVR3000 today and had it installed and working with GBPVR in 10mins.

I plan to get a splitter and use Sky STB via a seperate analog card as well. I'm going to get it all working in GBPVR first (It's fairly easy) and then give MP TV Server a go - mainly because I prefer the MP interface.
